We are a developing company that is passionate and dedicated to preserving and celebrating the Yoruba culture, language, and heritage. 

Our mission is to create Yoruba language learning resources that not only introduce the world to the beautiful language that is Yoruba but that also connect those with a Yoruba background to their heritage and welcomes those without such a background to this expressive and rich culture. We importantly aim to make these comprehensive resources available to everyone! Our resources include podcasts, books and resources on instagram, TikTok and YouTube. As a volunteer you will play a crucial role in continuing to bring our vision to life and making it a success. 

Yoruba Language Volunteer - Various Roles Available

Positions Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals with a deep love for the Yoruba language and culture who are able to work from the comfort of their home. As a Yoruba Language Volunteer, you will contribute to our ongoing efforts to build a robust Yoruba learning hub. 

Available positions and responsibilities: please note that the Public Outreach and Virtual Administrator roles can be combined and so can the Content Creator and Marketing/Digital marketing role. If you would like to apply for these roles in combination please state so in your application. All the other roles are standalone

• Business Development Associate: you will be key in helping the business grow and bringing innovative ideas which will allow us to reach wider audiences. You will help boost our growth and sales by conducting market research as to the best avenues for us to follow in growing the company, developing and executing business strategies, identifying new business opportunities and building and maintaining client relationships.

• Audio/Video Editor: given the prevalence of video resources in the work the company undertakes, you will be responsible for using your brilliant skillset to ensure that the production of video/audio resources is smooth. This will range from ensuring effective transitions, removal of unnecessary sections, ensuring excellent display and that lessons are interactive. 

• Script Editor: you will be responsible for the editing of auto generated video/audio captions, verifying and ensuring that our resources in both English and Yoruba are grammatically correct, for example, ensuring that the tone marks are accurate and words are correctly spelt. You will also be responsible for converting auto generated captions into transcripts for web upload.

• Content Creator - your role will involve coming up with creative media content to help us draw in more customers, share our resources in a fun and engaging manner and continue to keep coming up with better resources. This will go hand in hand with the marketing/digital marketing position below.

• Marketing/Digital Marketing: you will be responsible for assisting with social media outreach (Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram) and contributing to newsletters, blogs, and other PR efforts.

• Virtual Administrator: every company needs someone to help ensure things are running smoothly and efficiently. You will be the first point of call for enquiries relating to the business, mainly via email and our website. You will also be responsible for contacting our customers and keeping them apprised of developments and for the organisation of other day to day tasks essential to the running of the company. 

• Public Outreach: you will help establish institutional support for our work and its expansion from, for example, universities and language organisations. You will also be responsible for leveraging local and international connections to promote our work. You will likely work closely with the marketing/development and content creator individuals. 

Desirable skills: 

• Bilingual proficiency in Yoruba and English skills preferred. 
• You will have respect for the Yoruba culture and language and be passionate about both.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 
• Willingness to research and learn.
